With the hope and promise of a new season, spring is the time to refresh colour choices for lips and nails. We caught up with leading makeup and nail artist Bernadette Leva who shared her top tips for this season.
1. What new shades and looks should we be adopting now that it is getting warmer?
Spring always calls for pastels and as we head into summer, the bold brights become most popular.
The French manicure is back but with a twist – the lastest trend is to replace the original white tip with a colour tip.
The ‘barely there’ look is always a popular manicure as it’s easy to maintain when you are on the run and looks chic and elegant. My tip to maintain this is to keep a nail file and cuticle oil in your bag for easy access!
2. Is there a go-to colour this season for pedicures?
Brights are always a go-to in summer! As we bring in the warmer weather we bring out our holiday nails - a classic bright red is always my favourite pick!
3. What is trending in terms of lip shades this season?
Bright pinks and reds are taking front and centre this summer. I love mixing lipstick colours to make my own colour. My current favourite for spring is Mavala’s Rose Candy with Cherry Crush! The new Crush Collection is great as it’s got something for all occasions, 3 neutral options as well as 3 brights to help make a summer statement. I love the moisturising finish that these lipsticks provide.
5. What is your #1 tip on caring for your nails through summer?
In summer, I love a clean super shiny natural nail. I go through a lot of cuticle oil to help keep my nails moisturised and nourished.
