Treat your feet to an easy pedicure!

Summer feet.jpg

As the seasons change, our feet emerge from hibernation in desperate need of special treatment. In the same way we reach for masks, serums and moisturisers to revitalise our faces, feet will benefit from a pedicure regime to deliver sandal-worthy toes, smooth heals and comfortable, soft feet. Bear in mind that feet are an intricate combination of bones and muscles; a delicate structure, yet robust and flexible. They deserve the best care we can give them in order to allow them to accomplish the work we demand of them every day.

Follow this easy, at-home pedicure using the NEW specialised foot care programme from Mavala.

Conditioning Moisturizer for feet.jpg

Prepare

Carefully clean toenails and remove nail polish before cutting and filing to desired shape. Gently massage the nail contour with a cuticle cream to soften and nourish this delicate area. Prior to soaking feet, buff off excess dry skin with a pumice stone.

Treat

Add a concentrated foot treatment to a basin/bath of warm water and soak feet for 5-10 minutes to soften skin. Dry feet and apply an exfoliating product with a circular massage over the entire foot paying careful attention to the areas where callouses generally appear (heels and ball of foot) and rough skin builds up.

Delicately roll back toe cuticles with a manicure stick covered with cotton wool.  Rinse your feet in cold water to activate the circulation and carefully dry them, paying special attention to the area between the toes. Lightly massage the feet with a conditioning moisturiser for supple and smooth skin.

Polish

If necessary, smooth the surface of your toenails with a nail buffer to stimulate circulation in the nail bed and give nails an even, shiny surface. If you wish to apply nail polish, remember to clean toenails with a cotton pad soaked with nail polish remover to clear away any oily film. Insert Pedi-pads between toes. Apply a base coat, followed by two thin coats of nail polish. Finish with a quick-drying top coat

In between pedicures, maintain feet with these easy tips:

Soak feet

After a hard day where your feet have been sorely put to use, take time to soak them in a soothing bath. Your feet will feel refreshed and relieved in no time.

Refresh feet and legs

During the summer months when feet and legs are hot and tired, apply a cooling-effect gel or emulsion to relieve aches and pains.

Provide comfort

For particularly dry feet with cracked or split heals, apply an intensive repairing foot cream to regenerate feet.

Refresh

Our feet have about 250,000 sweat glands producing up to 200ml of perspiration per day. If you suffer from excess foot sweat and odour, use a targeted gel or powder to provide freshness and eliminate odours.
